Volunteer with the Greater Philadelphia Chapter
Each year, our Chapter holds numerous fundraising events, recreational events, and informational meetings throughout the tri-state area. These activities create a multitude of tasks with which volunteers can easily assist, including administrative work and mailings, and helping at various events.

We need several volunteers on a continuing weekly basis to assist us with office tasks. You will work directly with the Volunteer Coordinator, who will instruct you on all necessary steps, including operation of any office equipment. This may include assistance with Chapter mailings, preparing materials for upcoming events, and assisting staff.
Event and walk volunteers provide assistance with registration, directions and raffle ticket sales. At live and silent auctions, our volunteers provide table security, set-up/take-down and instruction or information on the auction, as well as various other duties as determined at the event.
Community Ambassadors attend events throughout our chapter area, spreading awareness of the many ways that The Greater Philadelphia Chapter is helping to lead the fight to cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while empowering those with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives.
Visiting Volunteer Program
Our Visiting Volunteer Program is designed to provide a friendly visitor for people with ALS. All our Visiting Volunteers are either former caregivers of loved ones who have had ALS or are folks well known to the Chapter. If you think you qualify for this program and are interested in either getting more information or attending an Orientation to this program, please contact Evelyn Thoman at 215-643-5434 x 13 or Evelyn@alsphiladelphia.org.
This is a great opportunity to fulfill a community service requirement, to become familiar with the office setting, including office equipment, and help a worthy cause. You could then include office experience on your résumé depending upon the tasks performed.
Volunteers will receive a Certificate of Appreciation, including the volunteer's name and hours worked, upon request.
