Commonly Used Medications by Symptoms


Spasticity:

Baclofen® 5-20mg up to 4 times a day
Zanaflex® 1-12mg up to 3 times a day
Valium® 1-2mg twice a day
Botox injections

Laryngospasm:
Klonopin ® every 12 hours

Cramps:
Neurontin®, Dilantin®, Tegretol®, Tonic water

Pain (general):
Ibuprofen, Naproxen®, Ultram®,  Nabumetone®, Celebrex®, Tylenol #3®, narcotics (morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl)

Thin Secretions/Excess Saliva:
Robinol® 1-2mg up to every 4 hours, max 8mg/day
Levsin® .0125-.025 up to 4 times a day
Elavil® (Amitriptyline) 25-100mg at bedtime
Transderm Scopolamine® patch
Atropine 1% solution sublingually
Botox injections

Thick Secretions/Mucus in throat:
Robitussin® (Guaifenesin) 1-2 tablespoons up to 4 times a day
Mucinex (Guaifenesin tablets)
Nebulizer with Albuterol® up to 4 times per day or Albuterol mixed with Mucomyst® up to 2 times per day.

Decreased  Appetite: 
Megace® 800mg once a day

Insomnia:
Ambien®, Restoril®, Lunesta®, Trazadone

Pseudobulbar Affect (uncontrollable crying or laughing)
Nuedexta® 20/10mg twice daily, Antidepressants such as Zoloft® or Elavil®

Depression
SSRI’s such as Zoloft®, miscellaneous antidepressants such as Wellbutrin® and Remeron®
